Does anyone actually make a transbrake kit for a 4L80-E? I'm very curious how this is accomplished. I don't think the rear band (low/reverse) in the 4L80-E is steal, it feels and looks like cast iron and should be considered a weak part. That band is a double wrap design with a bridge in the middle, it's brittle and can crack under high loads.

A high-stall converter at full stall against a transbrake would seam to break that band. Who makes one of these kits and how does the transmission live?
I guess it works in a TH400 which is essentially the same geartrain... Same band too. Weird.

most shops that Jerry (cablebandit) asked about this said they would have to custom make one... Jim @ Transformance in Savannah, GA did it on Jerry's 80e.
Here's a video of Jerry testing it out: http://southeastmusclecars.com/showthread.php?tid=3050
PM Cablebandit and tell him sslow told you to ask him about the trans brake, get Jim's number and give him a call... he can give you a good estimate on shipment and since he just worked on jerry's transmission.. he should be able to give you a good price estimate over the phone, make sure to tell Jim that Jerry and Joe sent you his way

Carl Rossler is the only person I know who makes an 80e tbrake.I would post a link but he's a non sponsor. Its billet aluminum with the solenoid an more affordable than I would have thought. I hope the solenoids are better than most t-brakes. If Carl makes it, it's got to be good.
Jim's got his game together.
