Default shocks

the front of my truck (the 2002 ext cab) is lowered (3" according to the kit) i measured the length of the shocks at ride height which is 13". how much travel should the shock have? (extended and collapsed length) what shocks should i get for it? i have heard good and bad things about Belltech but their price seems better than most. Summit also has a lowered shock for a good price, but again i dont know about the quality of them. can anyone help me?
