Ok I don't know who to believe. I bought a Transgo shift kit a couple of months ago, I have not put it in yet because I was waiting to do Corvette servos, trans cooler and TB stall all at the same time. I have been calling around to find out prices for the install and have had 4 reputable transmission shops tell me "do not put a shift kit in a 4L60E, it will burn it up" one shop actually said he would not do it. 2 of them told me to go with just the Corvette servos and Stall with the cooler of course. I dont know who to believe, everyone here seems to be going with the Transgo HD2, plus the other stuff, but also it seems like everyday someone posts a blown tranny thread. Does anyone have any experince with this or any info. I just don't know which way to go.

 

I've always heard the shift kit helps the 4l60e live longer, but I may be wrong. Seems like it'd strengthen the valve body by putting in the better parts the shift kit has but I'm not real sure on these trannys.

 

ya its fine... as long as your doing the vette servo and cooler like you've said... go for it. When u get to the part about installing washer in the accumlator housing... dont install any.. unless you want to break your neck in the 1-2 shift.. that tougher spring is enough to make the shift hard.

 

I love my shift kit and would do it all over again, even though it is messy. Listen to SSLow 4.8 about the washers. I put one in my accumulater housing, and it was one too much.

ive wanted to drop 2 in there just for fun my dad complains that itll tear up my u-joints and etc...but i havent heard of any of that...but is it true or???
