Default Servo upgrades

For those of you who have changed out your servo - have you removed the trans from the truck or have you done it in place?

I'm not seeing much clearance, so I was wondering about this.
Thanks

I did it with the tranny in place but I did remove the y-pipe and heat shield.

if you have access to a lift it's easy, took about 20 min.

Any hints as to how to get the snap ring out. I can push the cover in with the pry bar, but I can't get a hold of that snap ring.

I think I might have to drop my passenger side header - uggghh. The flange sits right there below/beside it. Even still, there's not much clearance between the cover and the floorwell - I take it that servo pin is not too long.

Nevermind, I have success. I finally used my brain and got a small screwdriver up in there. I didn't have to drop my exhaust (thank God!!) - the header flange gave me no problems - there was still plenty of room to manipulate everything out easy enough.

Well, I had no problems changing everything over. But I can't get that damn servo cover snap ring back in!!! It's driving me nuts!

I needed three hands! Luckily, I was able to wedge my breaker bar against my header flange in order to "lock" it in place - that left me with my hands free. It was still a pain to install but I figured out the technique that worked. I used a small screwdriver as well, but no V cut, though - that would have been a little easier.

Thanks
