My Tahoe has 3:73's in it and I have a set of 4:10's and an Eaton LSD in the garage. If I ever get time to put them in, I'll let you know the difference. I drive a little further than you everyday and do hit the interstate from time to time as this is also my family mover. If you only do 12 miles and want to have a lot of grunt off the line you could go 4:56. I didn't because of the MPG trade off. I already fill up at least once a week and at $50 to $55 a trip, it gets pricey. 4.10's/4.11's would probably be a good gear for you, if you have 3:42's now, you will really notice the difference.
