Trans arrived in Florida and he is picking it up tonight. Hopefully it'll be a quick turn around because the tracks here in Buffalo don't stay open much longer than October.

I'm so through with throwing away $ on 4l60e(s) - I'm starting to put the parts together now for the 80e swap. Already talked to Chris @ Circle D for the TC and am flexing between a rebuild kit from Pro-Built Automatics or a finished product from FLT. Leaning towards getting a decent 2000 or newer unit and having my builder here do the refit - definitely using the PCM of NC swap harness as Alvin is my tuner as well. Wondering if I should just have the verter built to mount to my 4l60e flexplate or swap that out as well.

CircleD has converters that will bolt up to your current flexplate.

Isn't that swap harness $$. Just repin, add a VSS and segment swap.

I don't think it matters much what year 4l80e you get. All years rebuild to insane power handling. In fact the older ones have cooler lines in almost exactly the same location as the 4l60e.

If you want to go nuts then add the lower 1st gear That will get her moving. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/tci-277501/overview/

Yeah, the harness is a few dollars but if I ever sell the truck I'm not going to have to worry about getting it back to stock. Thanks for the heads up on 1st gear...I might just do that. So - sounds like a rebuild 80e is the way to go for me, then. Hope dirttrackracer is still selling his crossmembers

What do these words mean?! "back to stock"

I sold my Yukon with an 80e just fine.

selling a hot rod truck with a built / aftermarket trans is great.

Trading in a truck with a built / aftermarket trans is a bad idea. Its not worth a penny more.

Oh I agree with this. Trade in for my Yukon was 1/5 of what I sold in private sale!

I like to bust your chops about your 4l60e, but I really do hope it works out! How much **** can I talk? I only put stock power levels through a built 4l80e before I gave up!!
