Default ?s about the 6L80E.

I'm looking for a 2010 or so 1500 RCSB, I haven't found to much about the trans. Just want to make sure it's decent, any major issues or flaws. Will looking to run about 10 lbs of boost.

Thanks.

It has flaws, they all do but it's a far better transmission than the 4L60e.

Seems that shift flares and or slipping is somewhat of an issue for some cars but most never deal with at all. The biggest thing for making them shift right and last a long time is a good transmission tune. They are many things in the stock calibration that can be tweaked to make it a overall better unit.

They should handle 500hp in most cases without a problem.

i love mine and for 20,000 worth of boosted miles towing alot of weight making 540 rwhp on 35s

now same trans is gonna see mid to high 600s while doing the same as it did before

Key is the tune, if ppl mention they fail with normal conditions its cause of the guy behind the pcm...they can not be tuned like a 4 speed

my trans has 83k miles on it and had the fluid changed at 75, still looked clean when drained

I hear great things, but are a beast to tune.

The 6L80 is a much better trans then the 4L60E, As already mentioned the key to them living is a proper tune if doing mods.

This sounds promising, just to clarify, they came out in 09 in all 1500's models?

Thanks.

2009 was only in the crew cab LTZ models I think. The denali's already had them.

Then 2010 was all 1500's with the correct options like 5.3/6.2. The work truck 4.8's still got the 4L60e.

I'd go 2010+ if it was me.
