RPM limits of 4l60/65
#1
I was told by the guy that built my latest transmission that the 4l60s shouldnt be taken past 6400 rpms because of tolerances and such. My shift points were set between 6200 and 6400 anyway so I wasnt really worried, but I see some of you guys shifting at over 7000 and always wondered how the trans was taking it. Is there any truth to this?

mine was shifted day in day out around 6800 miles. never had and issue with it. it was toren down at 8k just to see and it was as fresh as day 1. it also seen 7500 a few times and shifted at 7200 a few times also. i specifically told the builder where truck was going to shift and the built it to tolerate it

vac mod, full race springs, i had 2 shims, both servos and other things. makes for annoying shifting trans on the street. in traffic in 5-10mph bumper to bumper it would get annoying shifting hard
