Retune necessary for 4.10's?
#1
just wondrin if i have to get a retune for my 4.10's. I have 3.73's now and im considering getting the 4.10's because i just got some new tires, i went from a 30.1" diameter to a 32.8" diameter tire. what benifits would i see from getting it retuned? I was told that when i put them in, they will bring me back to where i was before the tires power wise. Is this true?
other than the above mentioned items, i wont have any abs or tranny issues from this swap will I?
any help would be appreciated.
thanks

you'll throw a check engine light or an ABS sensor light because correlation between your transmission spinning and your wheels spinning will be different. I don't know if it will affect drivibility, but the annoying light will be on.

ok kool. i used one of those online gear ratio calculators and i plugged in my old tires vs my new tires and it said in order for my truck to be stock again, i would need to put 4.07 gears in. so in theory 4.10's get me back to where i was before plus a slight gain on the low end. is this true?
so all i need to do is get the ecu reprogrammed for the 4.10's and im home free?
sorry man

Sounds like you got it down. Any handheld programmer can adjust for new gear ratio's, if you're going the ECU route i hope your getting a lot more than just your gears tuned. ECU programs are $$$
