Angry reprograming for shift kit?

want to put a shift kit in my 03Z but now im learning that if the vehickle is equiped with torque management that the shift will feel no firmer until it is reprogramed. Is this true and if so can i have it reprogramed at a speed shop or do i have to buy the programer myself?

yeah, get you a custom tune and get rid of that torque management as well as the top speed limiter. I think if you put in the shift kit without the tune the line pressure will be too great and will eat that tranny right up!!!

Really? I am not too sure about that. I thought general consensus was leave your tranny setting stock for a shift kit. The TQ management stuff, that's just your security blanket for the trans concerning timing/spark. PCM pulls some timing to save trans from harsh hits from the motor end of things. Less TQ with less spark is the theory.

The shift kit will firm things up, it will be snappier and a tighter shifting trans.

i dont believe its true at all. my very first mod was an hd-2c shift kit, 1-2/3-4 servo, accumulator, blah blah blah and i can tell you without having touched the computer that it was a world of difference.

yes, you guys are right. I don't know why but I was under the impression that he had a previous tune for firm shifts. I was just saying return to stock for a shift kit. I must have had a brain fart or two.
