Default rearend ?

Hi guy's. Just wondering if anybody on here with power adders has upgraded or replaced their rear. I'm over 420 rwhp and have done the 4l80 swap and the only thing left to beef up is the rearend. If you kept the stock 10 bolt what did you do and if you replaced it where did you get it from. Thanks in advance- Mike

The 14 bolt is your best upgrade, from a SS, VHO, or the new Vortec Max, it just bolts right in, but you might have to modify your driveshaft.

With my Avalanche I swapped out the 3.73's for 4.10's, swapped out the G80 for an Eaton Posi (LSD), and if I would have had enough room (the panhard bar was in the way....one downside to coils vs. leafs) I would have put on a T/A diff cover, which has built-in studs to preload and support the carrier. That's about all you can do for a 10-bolt, but if you do that, it's much better than stock.

Just swap out the posi and you will be fine.

Thanks for the reply's. I think I will stay with the 10 bolt for now, but get it rebuilt. Just have to decide on the gear. I did not know the SS and the other trucks mentioned had 14 bolt rears. I just might have to do some junkyard cruising. Thanks again.

agree on the 14 bolt. i got an old 14 bolt in the truck in my sig, they are a stout piece. TBSS has done about everything u can do to a 10 bolt. a 12 bolt swap is possible too. unless u go like 500whp you should be fine, if you r easy on it.

I am working on this T/A Cover mod bro... I am designing a new pan hard bar so that it will clear the cover...This is something i plan to get done while i am working on my new motor...

T/A actually has a lower profile cover, you just have to order it from them directly. Not sure if it is low enough (I think there is only about 1" between the stock cover and the stock panhard bar, and from what I remember from talking with T/A, their low-profile cover is more than an inch thicker that stock) but it's worth checking into. I sold my AV before figuring it out...
