my cousins 2000 z71 rear end went out. its stock but no g80. do the non g80's go out as bad as the g80? not sure if its the diff or the gears yet will find out tommorrow.

 

That happened to mine. I was doing normal driving ( no really i was ) thats the funny part....any ways it started making a thumping/ knocking sound and started to not want to go forward. turned out to be the spider gears. All the teeth got chopped off! Replaced with 4:10 & detroit locker. kinda happy it happened just because i wanted had to replace the gears! So i had an excuse to replace them =) now i just hope it doesnt happen again!

 

yeah he said a week ago he was pulling into the drive way and it kinda got on it and it made a clank noise then last night he was pulling into the driveway normally and it went clank, grind and no go. he put it in 4wd and got into the driveway.

 

it was the diff. spider gears were shot.
