rear disc conversion on 07 silverado classic.
#1
I searched a bit and couldn't find a write up or how to for the rear disc brake conversion on an 07 silverado classic. I have an 07 Silverado Classic 2WD I want to convert to disc rear brakes, and also an 03 Silverado 4WD to convert to drums(for parts) that just has to be in good enough shape to trade in. I was wondering what parts are required for the actual swap. I can't just swap the rears because the 03 is pretty high miles 3.23's and open diff, while my 07 is 3.73's and g80.
If anyone has a write-up and/or parts list that would be great. Do I have to pull the axles out to do the conversion? Can I keep the drum e-brake cables?

i did the swap. its easy honestly. you will need the brakes, cables, plates, and lines from a disk rear. open diff, drain fluid. remove each wheel and remove the drums off. you will have ot pull out the axle. which requires pushing the axle in and using magent to pull out the C clip. pull out axle and set aside make sure not to mix up sides. now remove the rest of the drum bracket off rear.
disk setup is the same prinicple. to install do everything in reverse, only differnce will be angle of caliber
should take no more then 2 hours minus bleeding brakes and adding fluids. thats saying you have it all in front of you.
you will need to use Disk ebrake cable on a disk setup and visa versa

thanks for the help. turns out i probably wont have my truck in time to do the swap before the 03 gets traded in(bro is getting an hd). im looking into the ssbc tri-power front calipers and rear disc setup. i will probably wait until i can get some 4.10's too.
my new truck is a regency so it already has the ssbc 14" rotors. my new truck is comin from texas so i doubt it will be here by the end of the week. i find out when the truck is going to be delivered tomorrow.
