Rear end suggestions
#1
Well its time to replace my rear end bearrings and seals (again). When my first trans blew my rear end had some bad bearings so I had it rebuilt while in the shop. Long story short that trans is now gone and the bearings need to be replaced again. (only 100,000 miles on both)
I just put a PerformaBuilt LVL2 in so I wouldn't have to worry about the trans for a LONG time and I want to do the same for the rear end.
I have the factory G80 w/3.73 running a 285/50/R20 tire. I want to replace the broken G80 with a trutrac while replacing all of the bearings and seals. The most power im looking to get out of my truck is around 400hp to the wheels with a light boost setup. The boost setup is down a little ways on the list. I want to build the rear end to handle some high mileage as well as some abuse. I have heard the factory rear ends can be weak under high hp applications but I don't know where that limit is.
If I built the rear like I listed would it hold my goal HP pretty well? If not what would it take?
