Default RCSB 4.8 5spd or ECSB 5.3 auto?

i have a 2003 silverado extended cab 5.3 auto, and i miss having a manual transmission, i was thinking about trading in my extended cab and getting a 2003 RCSB 4.8 5 speed 4X4? do you think that would be a good idea? any input please

I would get the RCSB, especially since it has a manual. RCSB's are more personal and sporty IMO. Personally, I would never buy an ECSB truck unless I had a family and had no other vehicle.

Well coming from myself, a guy who was in the same same debate last week (i was looking at a gun metal grey 5.3 2wd auto x-cab, and a 4.8/5spd rc stepside 2wd).

I feel like i made the right choice in buying the 4.8L 5spd. Ive always been in love with the reg cab stepside because it is the best lookin style truck in my opinion, and no-one could ever convince me otherwise.

While the 4.8L isn't much with stock numbers, with the 3.42's and G80 it'll still chirp the tires through second gear on a high rpm 1-2 shift.

RCSB all the way man...manuals are too much fun anway.

5.3 ECSB Auto!!!! The 4.8's 5-speed cannot take to much power sent through it. Just think why they don't put it behind the 5.3L!

12.58 @ 109 launching about 3k due to axle wrap being bad otherwise I would have launced much higher. That was with DOT slicks.
Later put down 445 rwhp and 489 rwtq.

This was on a 05 rcsb 4.8 5speed with stock clutch and tranny. The tranny nor the clutch is weak. I just put the used 05 clutch in my 95 rcsb with a 383. works great!

As I have said before.....How many thousands would it take to make a 4l60e hold up to that kind of power? With converter and internal mods i'd say close to $3k Yeah, the 5 speeds and clutch are weak

You just may have that magical, fully balanced, hardened steel ,bullet proof unit GM makes!
It is all in due time my friend.
Though the TQ rating on that 5-speed isn't rated at 489.
Great HP & TQ #'s!

Then why don't they place it behind the 5.3 or 6.0L equipped trucks?
