Quick 4L80E swap question. What year?

Default Quick 4L80E swap question. What year?

I've been on the lookout for a gambit of things for my truck project. For some reason, in my notes, I wrote down that a 2005+ 4L80E was the way to go. Well I found a deal on craigslist for a 4L80E, but it's out of a 99 suburban.

My truck is a 2000 silverado. Should I buy this transmission? Is there any reason why it would be a bad idea? Would it work?

There are changes in the 05 and up, that are preferred. But if the price was right I would probably still take that older 80 over any 60.

Well the oil lines in the older ones are similar to the 60, right over each other. In the newer 80s they have around a foot between them horizontally. So Id guess along the lines of better lubrication, as well as the newer ones have a few different internal parts. There is also a 12o clock bolt hole on newer ones. not sure what year that was started tho.

TBH I cant remember the details.

Vince B could probably drop some knowledge on this really easily

I was under the impression the oil lines changed in 95, and top bolt hole in 99...

So according to your link, this is a later model 80E because of how far apart the trans cooler lines are.

its a 99+, the 05+ changes are internal.

yes. cooler lines, 2 speed sensors, and non-removable bellhousing are the dead give aways.
