Default Questions on lowering my Z71

I want to remove the 2" lift blocks out back and put my torsion springs back to stock height or lower, which ever levels it out with the back after I remove the blocks.

The questions I have are...can you still use the stock U-bolts or would I be better off getting 2wd stockers from the dealer? I know they are made to be torqued down once and replaced, but I have seen some people reuse them.
I think it was Ladiesman on here??

Is there some sort of plate that the 2wd trucks have under the springs for them to sit on?

After removing the lift stock lift blocks out back would I need shorter shocks to work properly?

Thanks guys.

Pn:15002781 2 wd u-bolts. Get new nuts, too. I just came back from the Chevy dealer, ordering mine. The April issue of GM High Tech Performance has a really good article on doing just that, and some other things, too.

I bought new 2wd ones when I did it, not sure if you can use the old ones or not.

I lowered mine 5" on the back and I am still using the stock shocks. I think that you will need the shorter u-bolts and new nuts. Should be a piece of cake to do. Try the shocks and if they are not giving you enough control then you can shop around for some drop shocks but I don't think that you will need them.

No plate, the springs sit directly on the spring perches.

The blocks are only about two inches thick so your stock shocks will work fine. As someone mentioned earlier there is a great article in last months GMHTP regarding this exact mod.

I'm in Southeast Wisconsin, about 35 miles west of Milwaukee.
