Default Question about 2/4 drop?

I ordered the 2/4 drop from belltech. 2" drop spindles front and 3" leafs rear, then 1-2" lowering shackle to make 4-5 rear drop. First to do the leafs do you have to drop the gas tank? Anyways around it? Second does it require with 4" drop or more do you need a pinion angle shim kit to avoid driveline vibration. Also my truck is a early 07 so classic, crewcab. Any help is appreciated.

1st off yes, gas tank needs to come off other wise that bolt for the hangar wont come out. And no there isnt a way around it. I had to do it when I did my hangars. And about the shims I've heard of guys that were fine with just a shim or 2 but if not contact DJM and they'll hook u up with a thing called a carrier bearing and bracket and that will fix the angle of ur drive shaft for no vibration. Hope I helped and good luck! the spindles are easy and kinda fun, I went a different route with the rear. Little less fun IMO

spindles on my 06 required shaving down the balljoint nut to get the stock 17's on it. other than that. on my hangers I just busted the rivits off and brought the whole rear end down to get the bolt out of the spring. but in your case DROP THE TANK. you have to push the spring up to clear the top rear bolt on the shackle. so you might want to do it while it is unbolted from the axle.

how the hell did u bring the whole rear end down to get the bolt out of the spring on the hangar side?? even if u pulled the hangar off with the spring the bolt goes thru the frame and both sides of the hangar.

IMO, do a flip kit with a lift shackle for 5" out back. Drop leafs will be stiffer (may or may not bother you) and you will loose a little hauling/towing capacity. If you do the leafs, or hangers for that matter, the gas tank will at minimum need to be moved over (it doesn't have to be dropped), but most just drop the tank. As for shims, unfortunately, every truck is different so you may or may not needs shims. And correct me if I am wrong, don't the Crew Cab trucks have a 1 piece driveshaft? If so, a carrier bearing kit will not work for you like said above.

Default NO You don't have to drop tank!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NO you do not have to drop the gas tank. What I did on my dad's truck was we purchased new bolts from the dealership for the leafs spring hanger bolts and I cut the heads of them off and drove them out without dropping the tank. You can do it either way but I found it easier for me to cut the bolts. You can use a saw-all or 4" disc grinder with a cut wheel.

Good point, I totally forgot about that and have heard it a lot. And he didn't say, but if your confused, when you install them you put them in the opposite way with the nut on the gas tank side.
