Default pinion angle shims and carrier bearing bracket??

I am going to do a 2/4 drop(coils and shackle/hangers) on my 2wd 01 sierra ECSB w/ 2 piece driveshaft and I want to do it right, how do I know if I have to get pinion angle shims and a carrier bearing bracket kit to correct drive line angle. Will I definitely need this stuff or will I have to drop it and check the pinion angle to see if I really need to adjust?? Also should I buy smaller bump stops or can I just trim the factory ones?? THANKS!!!!

You will most likely need it depending on the kit you go with, I would think a 3 degree shim should take care of it they are about 20bucks or you can just compare the angle of the driveline coming out of the trans and the angle into the differential, if there is a difference thats how much you shim.

If you need it you will know it......there will be vibration associated with a bad pinion angle. Not all trucks need it. I did not have to do it on my RCSB although I have a one piece drive shaft. I say do the drop and drive it first. If it needs one, you will know real quick

You Most Likely Will Not Need It. It Will Vibrate Badly If You Do. I Agree With Smooth. Drive It First & See How It Does. I Gotta Rcsb And A 4/6 Drop & I Didnt Need Shims, So A 2/4 Shouldnt Be Too Bad....

I had to do the carrier bearing relocate on both of my 2/4 ext cabs.
