STOP! Collaborate and listen! Seriously, why the tru-trac? Do you do mainly street driving and in dry conditions? If so, it's perfect for you. If you do any driving in rain, greasy roads or mild off-road, you may not be so impressed. TORSEN style differenetials work off torque multiplication. In short, if the right rear tire has ZERO resistance (such as ice, snow, greasy mud, wet wet rain) the left rear isn't going to do **** when the right rear breaks loose. I had one of these diff's in my sonoma for years and the only way it'd work in bad terrain or snow was to apply the ebrake slightly to "trick" the right rear tire into thinking it had a slight amount of traction. The diff has a torque bias ratio of x. X=whatever bias you ordered. Mine was 1.5. If I had 50 lbs of resistance to the right rear, the left got 75. If I broke the tire loose like on snow or ice, 0 times 1.5 is still ZERO

I haven't looked into the 8.5/8.6 tru tracs to find out but the tru trac is a torque multiplying rear end with worm gears. The bias ratio is the ratio of torque the worm gears can xfer between axles.

Better check in who you're buying it from
" The Detroit Truetrac® uses gears only - no clutch packs. It is ideal for 4WD front axles. It features torque bias ratios from 2.5 to 3.5:1 range.
There are several other manufacturers of geared-LSDs including Torsen and Quaiffe. Other LSD designs employ clutch plates to affect a similar operation, albeit at much lower torque bias ratios. Also, clutch-type LSDs require special additives in the gear oil to operate and are subject to wear and periodic maintenance."
