Default Ordered FLT Level 5-65E Today

Well, as I had said before in previous posts, my previous "built" 65E crapped out on me after only 6 months and again 2 months later for good, so about 2000.00 got me about 8 months of use. I was gonna just throw in a used stock tranny that I could hopefully find for around 500.00 and hope it was in good enough condition to baby around for 3 or so months until I could save for a built one from FLT. Well on the way home today while the wife was picking my no truck having *** up from work I was bickering about how I think it is such a waste of money to find a quick fix for a few months and all the uncertainties I would have to face. Well, she said why dont you just get the one now that you wanted to get in a few months (FLT). Well, I just kinda stared at her in disbelief as I was thinking...damn I love this women and choked out, "well you know we dont have the money for that so I will have to charge it". Well she said its better than paying to have it installed twice and throwing 500.00 or so away on a temporary transmission and then making the purchase later. So needless to say, about an hour after I got home I was on the phone with FLT. I forget the name of the guy I spoke to but he was really helpful and answered a lot of my questions. They didnt have any kind of promotions going on for my purchase, I think they were offering free shipping before, but now it is the busy season they said. All I gotta do now is find a performance converter for a good price between now and then so if someone has something send me a PM. They said it would take about 10 to 15 days (business days I assume) for it to ship out so hopefully I will be back up shortly after that

Sweet! That's the same transmission I'm considering after my warranty runs out. Keep us updated on the installation, performance, and reliability.

I feel your pain man, just sucks that I coulda used that money towards the purchase to do it right the first time. I have a set of pacesetter long tubes and a hooker aerochamber that I just stare at on the office floor next to me because Im too broke now to have it installed and now I have to wait even longer for the dyno tune

I just got my level 5 in about a month and a half ago and completely love it. The build time was two weeks for me, after painting, testing and delivery, it was 5 weeks to the day when it arrived. I really need my truck every day, but it was well worth the wait. I went with a Fuddle HP truck series converter (I wanted 3200, but for some reason its more like 52-5400 ) its fun, but I need one a little smaller. I would recomend this combo to anyone (smaller converter if youre 4wd though) and learned how hard it is to over stall one of these trucks. The 5xxx is totally streetable, just worried about the mud this winter.
Not to cary on, but I think you made the right decision. I love mine and Ive been through a few (7) I seriously think this is the last one.

white how much worse is your city mileage stalling at 5200....what do you cruise at, i know with my 3200 under light acceleration it stays about 2200 or 2500 until i stop accelerating or it locks up about 55mph

Its not much worse, but I have my 3rd and 4th part throttle lock ups set low. Cruise is the same as it was before. I have my lockup at like 40 in 3rd, and 30 in 4th or something like that, so the converter stays locked most of the time.

well thats good, i think mine locks up about 50mph, i need to get it retuned though so when under part throttle it locks up real low because its not so good cruising around at 2400 rpm under slight acceleration. i find myself using cruise control alot to keep the revs down. where should i set my WOT lock ups? i heard its good to keep it unlocked through third?

Its about time!

I got mine 2 weeks after I ordered it. I was super happy with it....I wish I would have kept it to put in this truck

Chuck stands behind his work too. Not just him though. Everyone at FLT are great people to work with.
