I live in CT and toured the Callaway factory recently for a SAE event. Callaway is known for their Corvette projects but I got a sneak peak of one of their lesser known projects while there:

A 6spd manual conversion for the 4WD Chevy Tahoe

This involded a completely new tail shaft casting for the 6 spd manual transmission to link it with the transfer case, use of an off the shelf bell housing and clutch, a pedal assembly from the silverado (I think), and integrating the shifter into the center consol. I asked if that system would work with my LS2 TBSS and they thought it would, except for the center consol pieces. I don't have the extra cash to try this out, but if some of you are really interested it might be worth your while to give Callaway a call and see what they can do for you. They like it when one of their engineering developments can get multiple uses...

Good luck
I ran across this post on trailvoy.com. It sounds like there may be a solution to mating the T-56 to a transfer case.

you have to change the front plate to a ls1 front plate according to the people i was going to get mine from. the shift also sits further forward tan the ls1 version. other than that the mount is about the same place just a hair off. i was going to use the viper t56 but i'm not gonna get to do it at all now. i can give you contact info on the people to get ahold of if you want.

the clutch pedal switch from a 5speed truck. the auto wireing is on the trans. the black box is on the side of the trans where the gear shifter connects. then the speed sensors is on the tail.
