Default NP246 Encoder motor

So the t-case in my 99 Silvy was completely shot, beyond repair and I was lucky enough to find a used one for a steal of a price. The guy I bought it from didn't know what year vehicle it came from, but it is a NP246.

Come to figure it out, the new one is from an 03 or newer, which has a different encoder. Is there anyway to get this setup to work in my 99? Harness adapter, swap encoders? Truck is down and I do need to get it fixed so any insight is greatly appreciated.
