Default No 3rd gear...

Got a Yank 2600 and a Transgo kit installed last week. Truck WAS running great. Today on the way home from work, I slow down for traffic and when I accelerated the truck wouldn't go into 3rd gear. When it started, the shift from 1-2 was fine. Then it seemed like it tried to "slip" into 3rd. RPMs went up and nothing happened. I let off the pedal and eased back into it but it wouldn't go into third. Got on the shoulder and shifted into "1" and eased back into it. Shift into "2" and the tranny shifts into 2nd. Shift into "3" and nothing. RPMs go up but no shift. It hung in 2nd. Reverse works fine. Fluid level & smell is OK and no codes.

Any ideas?

Any overdrive?

If overdrive works, then the 3-4 clutchpack is still good. If not, that would atleast be a starting point. (3-4 clutch that is)

3-4 clutch pack is whats notorious for failing in our transmissions. it will just leave you. im sure your STS is cause for this. time for a built unit

All it has to do is burn once and that will cause the clutches and plates to warp from the heat. When they distort it makes a bunch of high and low spots. The high spots heat up even more. Sorry man, it's probably done.

I don't know about OD....it won't shift past 2nd. I was wondering if the stall could be causing it or if something came loose from the Transgo install. Yep, I wanted a built trans....just not the week after the cam/TC install.

Well...the verdict is in!!! And the winner with the closest answer is S2BS with the 3-4 clutch packs! They were toast and the 2nd accumulator piston was cracked. That was the reason it wouldn't shift into third.

So Dave at Rock On is re-building it to a Level 4 for it as we speak!

Wonder how long it will be before the G80 craters?!?!?!

for me of course (patting self on the back) i have seen G80's crap out after a long time or real quick, kinda like the 60. real variable, some last a long time and withstand mods and stuff and some just crack
