Bought some Toyo Proxie S/T in 285/60/17 to fit on my 17x8.5 Welds! They are about an inch shorter and an inch wider and should not look so stretched as the stock 265's are on these wheels.
Found them locally! Going on the truck this afternoon!

Tires are on! I'll get a pic this weekend. Got a great deal on them but my freaking rims are scuffed!!!! I just spent hours polishing them. Is this normal? Evey time i rotate or balance i'm going to have to polish them again?
Really pisses me off, could they have prevented that from happening or am i really going to have to deal with it every time??
Tires look great and now i have room for a 2/3 drop!

On my old truck I would always fight with my Weld wheels trying to keep them clean, until I ZOOP sealed them. All you have to do is clean your wheels very good then apply zoops and let dry for about 24 hours, then to clean them just hose off, it works very well.

Yeah Zoops is good stuff from what i've heard BUT the problem is not that they tarnished, rather the tire swap scuffed the aluminum all around the rim!! I'm going to have to polish the scratches out with the powerball and some fine abrasive like Mothers Aluminum Polish!

I sounds like the install place didn't have the right equipment to install tires on custom wheels....alot of places install the tires from the backside of the rim to prevent scuffing. I'd be talking to them about compensation for damaging the wheels...take the truck to a detailer and get a quote for what it would cost to polish out the wheels, take that quote to the shop that did the wheels and tell them you want to be compensated for the finacial loss incurred by their incompetence.

Yeah, thanks. I talked to the service manager this morning and he asked me to come by this afternoon to take a look. He seems pretty cool about it, I'm sure he'll take care of me.
I'll know more this afternoon.
Going to check out a paint shop that gave me a quote of $250 to paint a cowl hood and blend the fenders. If they're any good i might go and by the Reflexxion $499+tax locally.

Well, they agreed and apologized for the scratches to my Welds and gave me the # for a professional wheel restorer in town and told me they'd foot the bill. Sucks i have to deal with this but at least they're taking care of it for me.
