Default New ring gear destroyed, need advice

I had 4.56's installed in the truck after New Years, and last week the started howling BAD around 60mph. I dropped the truck off wendesday to the installer and get a call today saying that the gears have worn through the hardness, WTF?! Now Motive's are very reputable, and I don't want to call my installer a liar, but it's hard to believe that they failed on their own. I feel the install was off and the contact pattern was a bit tight, although there were no noises that showed signs of it.

Bought the gears from SUMMIT, what should I do?

Sounds like they weren't installed correctly. Give Motive a call and see what they say. Sounds like the installer should be buying you a new set of gears, or install them yourself.

Never seen a gear wear thru the hardned level.
Sounds like a bad install.
Motive will say its installer error, installer will say product defect.
You have your factory gears?
If all else fails you can put them back in to get by with and not having it howling?

Had the same problem. Was told it was from a synthetic gear oil by a reputable shop that didn't install mine

Teeth have a sharp edge on them if you rub your finger across them

Still have the factory gears, but I'm gonna tell them I feel its on their end and shoild have to cover it! It wasn't the master tech/owner that installed them, and when I picked up the truck he sounded like he had doubt on the install

well Summit is letting me exchange them, but I won't be paying for the re-install of the new ones. And it looks like I'm gonna be without my truck for probably 2 weeks

Interested to see how it turns out. Tell them to get pictures of their pattern check for you, that way you know they are doing their job. Hell I would stand there and watch if they would let you.
