Default New gears and locker, heed advice picking.

Well, I want to go ahead and get some 3.90 gears for my truck, and I am considering replacing the g80 with a better unit.. Does anyone have any advice on how to choose what locker?

Also open to any good deals yall know about on them!

most people on here go with either the Eaton LSD or the Detroit True Trac for a differential. both yield great results. Eaton uses clutches, True Trac has no clutches. i will be switching out my G80 this spring for a True Trac.

I went with the Eaton LSD and so far it's been great. A little popping when in a bind but that comes with the territory.

But you're right, the OEM G80 unit is a piece of garbage. We replace them.....at least 4 or 5 a year at my shop. They always look like a hand grenade went off inside one.

I agree with Kevin....the Tru Trac is a bad ***! I personally am partial to the Eaton because I've used them all my life in everything. But the clutch-less operation of ther Detroit is a dream.

It won't hurt anything but its easier to upgrade to something better since you're in there anyway.

Alright, browsing summit racing I came to this item:

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

Its a 3.90 gear, summit brand.. they use the same specs and image as the richmond they sell, so im guessing its made by richmond. I called up and they told me its made in the US.

Is this the correct gear for my truck?(04 silverado)

Thanks guys,
Lurius
