Default need some more help again w/ shift kit

i'm putting it all back together and i coulda swore i had all the check *****. i have the 7 in the valve body and now i can find the one that goes into the case. i cant remember if the one in the case came out or not. i see one up in the case but it has a retaining device to hold it in so it wont pop out. is there one more somewhere on my garage floor that i will have to find or is the check ball i already see w/ that retainer the only one in the case?

The one in the case goes next to the 3-4 accumulator piston. Here is where it is located.

Your welcome for the advise. If you would like you could take the ball out of the capsule in the rear of the case or the bottom of the picture above. Same ball location is what I'm saying. This will actually give you a little faster apply for reverse. I do this all the time and it will allow you to get it done sooner. Just use a small screw driver to bend the tangs out of the way and remove the ball from the orifice. Make sure to leave the orifice in the case and just move the ball to where you need it.

so that check ball that is held into the case by those tangs is not even needed and that i could just remove it and put it in the spot right above the 3-4 accumilator piston? if so, you have saved me once again. i'll reward you w/ buying a FLT tranny in the next year or as soon as this one goes. thanks man.

thanks so much. now one last thing, again. there was no spring inside the 3-4accumulator piston but there was a spring between the seperator plate and the plastic 3-4 piston. in the transgo directions, it says to install a spring in between the case and piston. does the stock spring still go in between the piston and plate along w/ the new one between the case and piston?

No you just use the springs that came in the kit. The 3-4 accumulator is the one in the case and may not have had a spring from the factory. Install the yellow spring from transgo. The other accumulator piston is the 1-2. I would strongly suggest not using the plastic piston. Get an updated aluminum piston. You will be using the orange and blue springs in that housing along with gold spring seat and the supplied washers. I would only use one washer if you have a late housing that has an eight digit part number that starts with a 2. If you have a housing that has only seven digits and starts with an eight, no washers are required. Just install the gold spring seat first, the blue spring, accumulator piston and then the orange spring. Vince
