Arrow Need some help - Can I replace converter with Tcase & Tbar member in place?

I have searched a lot. Still unsure.

I am in the middle of my HD2 install.
Truck is on the ground.

Before I put everything back together, I would like to do my converter swap.

I only have 1 decent floor jack.

I don't really want to pull the Tcase or Trans out of the truck. Or pull the Tbars.

Can I slide everything back and down enough to do the swap?
Alone?

I can do it on a lift next weekend. But, I would rather not do the whole Y-pipe thing again. Plus I have very limited free time.

Thanks in advance.

If you have limited time then don't try a converter swap - especially on a 4WD truck.
The exhaust has to come down because the engine needs to tilt back for access to all the bolts on the bellhousing. Both drive shafts have to come out.
It is possible to support and move the transfer case rearward once unbolted from the transmission. I have done it with the harness still attached. It will go far enough to drop the transmission out from in between. The transmission has to come down, trying to swap a converter without taking it down is dangerous. Converters are heavy and have a major effect on the transmission's center of gravity.
If you're doing this in your garage or driveway, plan on having your truck up on four drive-up ramps and spending an entire day for JUST the converter.

FYI, it IS possible to swap the converter without spiting the transfer case from the tranny or dropping the t-bar member. I did it on my truck. It will slide back far enough and the front will drop down enough to do it. It's not easy, but possible.

Thanks guys.
I spent most of the day on the shift kit and cleaning up.
Wish I would have done it long ago. Works great.
Joe, I have a friend helping me with it in his shop next Sat.
Thanks for the offer. Hit me up if you want to come by and see how it goes.
