Ok got an 06 silverado crewcab. 5.3 cam only full bolt on with a circle d converter and big fan cooler and vette servo. Well last Saturday nite I drove it to dinner. Hadn't drove it all week. Played a little nothing crazy. Tranny never gets over 170. Well it started not locking up. So I just parked it and ate dinner. Came back to my truck crunk it up. And heard a little rattling under neath it I put it in D and tried to leave and it took a lot more rpm to get it going. I was like what the f. So I stopped. And then it just free spun the motor like It was in N. in ever gear. Even R. So I turned it off and started it back up and it was back to normal. Do I babied it home. But never locked up. Then everytime I gave it more gas it would start missing and the Rpms would drop low. My buddy behind me said he could smell it running really rich. I thought the truck went into limp mode. So I parked it. Had my tuner come data log it while i was at work. And it did the same thing. First had nothing then kinda worked and had that miss in ever gear when u gave it gas like it had a huge load on the motor or something. He thought the converter has came apart. Or was on its way out. Well I took it to the shop that did all the work to have them figure it out and on the way there it worked normal. Locked up everything. So they took it for a drive and it did the same **** was normal for a little bit then got pissed. They dropped the pan and it was clean. Not a speck of metal. I was about to order a rpm tranny and get my converter gone threw but I want to know what y'all think. Please help me. I don't wanna buy something I don't need.

Any flashing SES lights? I'm guessing the miss you were feeling is what was keeping the converter from locking up. Did the log show any misfires or stored codes? Back to mechanical issues with the converter, have you checked the converter to flexplate bolts to make sure they haven't gotten lose? How long ago was the converter installed? Check all electrical connectors to the trans?

no codes what so ever and it only started to miss when i gave it gas to accelerate and it only did it every now and then like came and gone..john came over and drove it and data logged it and it did the same tranny issues as i described but he was scared to take it far and get stranded so never saw the miss fire thing but it had no stored codes at all and they put lock tight on the bolts idk if they have checked them yet but the whole combo has been in it maybe 2 months and has been driven maybe 300-400 miles tops..and they said all connections to the tranny are good and john said that it was commanding the shift.. last time i talked to brad he was going to hook some kinda machine to the tranny to monitor the pressure to see if the pump is actually taking a ****.. john said it seemed as if the converter was done or that maybe the bolts hd backed out and let the converter move enough to damage the pump..but that wouldn't explain the random miss fires.. could the PCM of went bad or something? johnathon said that its acting like a GTO they just did and they replaced to whole tranny and fixed it, I'm just not liking my chances of spending 2300 on a tranny and it still do it and have no money to buy or find the issue u know...

Im guessing your taking it to Triple X? Try a tranny shop and see what they say after they drive it...Cant say the sprag gear broke, because then you would'nt have drive.. CT Transmission seems decent, there on Fairfield

A pressure test would be a good next step diagnostic. From what you have described, I am guessing something in the trans hydraulic circuit. Do you know if they shimmed the converter or how much they had to pull it back to seat on the flex plate?

That is very storage, from a neutral condition to working fine. Most hard part failures don't fix themselves. I would think if it was a converter or trans pump it would have shown metal in pan? Any chance the fluid was low?

no the fluid was check when the issue occurred and wasn't burnt.. i talked to you yesterday on the phone and the shop the truck is at said they put a gauge on the trans and the pressure was fine they said it would fluctuate some but not much and that the problem only comes around when the truck warms up for some odd reason, tranny is getting pulled today and shipping the converter to chris to inspect the internals I'm hoping i can get some info soon i dont wanna spend money where i don't have to...
