Default Nbs 10b to Obs 14b questions.

Hey guys, I just picked up a 14b out of a '95 z71 to replace the 10b in my '03 gmc rcsb with a 4/6" drop. I have been reading for several days and can not find answers to a couple of questions I have so I hope y'all can help. First, I know this rear is 1inch narrower than my 10b so is this going to be a problem when I get around to putting a set of tbss 22" replica wheels on the truck. Second, I know the 14b spring perches are taller than the 10b ones so what do I need to do to keep the 6" drop in the rear after the swap? Fyi truck is lowered with a dim 4/6" drop kit with flip kit and c-notch in rear. Also if anybody has any pics of how much the rear tires set in after a 14b swap in a lowered truck that would be awesome. Thanks for any help.

It's not so much that they are taller on the OBS 14 bolt but the tubing OD is larger than the 10 bolt.

You will have to move the spring perches any way for them to work on your truck.

Here is a link with some info on the 14 bolt 9.5 SF rear end's as well as links to other builds. https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...thread-467473/

It pulls the wheel in 1/2" on each side toward the frame.

When I put one under Spoolin's truck, it actually helped with tire clearance. With the 20'' factory SS rims it was barely rubbing when cornering. The bed side flange was actually trimmed back to help. Sorry, I don't have any pics of before and after clearance. We also Mini tubbed the bed so the inner wheel well would sit flush with the frame.

Thanks 1FastBrick, I was hoping the tire clearance would be ok. Do you know if I am going to need to put on a 1 inch lifting shackle to keep the rear at a 6" drop? All the threads I've seen are for 4x4's not lowered trucks but I'll keep looking. Thanks again.

The difference in the tubing diameter should not be more than 1/4 of an inch.

That being said you will probably have to modify the axle flip kit to fit the larger tubing of the 14 bolt.

Thanks man, 1/4" isn't enough to worry about in the drop and I was looking at the flip kit and figured I would need to modify it. Might see if djm can make the axle cradles to fit the 14b for me or just not be lazy and make new ones myself. Thanks again for all the knowledge.
