my LVL5 is taking a trip to IL
#1

I've had my LVL5 for almost 2 years behind my set-up below and it has been awesome.I've never had a problem with it and everytime I drive my truck I run the **** out of it.I think my truck stresses it pretty hard.It is not my DD.
I've had a flare at the 2-3 shift at wot for a couple of months.About a week ago I was driving and lost 3rd and 4th gear,so I limped it home.I knew I probably wore out the 3-4 clutch pack.I called FLT and talked to Andy and that would be his guess also but he also said he won't know until they get it open.Sureshot and I took it out of the truck yesterday.I pulled the pan after it was out and was real happy to see only clutch material in the bottom.
Andy said they will get it fixed up and do some up dates they do since mine was built. Thanks for the great customer service and I'm already ready to get it back on the road.
I know this is a wear part so I have a few ideas to help it out.Recently Justin added a small amount of torque management at that shift.I also think running the big cooler I do actually keeps it to cold in winter. When it is cold it doesn't have the line pressure it has when it is warmed up.So I'm going do something to actually keep some heat in it for the winter.

That's funny man,I was thinking of blocking a portion of mine with a plate also.I'm wondering if I should try my stock cooler again. My tranny seems a lot better when it is above 150*.

Give it a try, can't hurt anything. I have to drive around in 3rd gear, beating on it with my fans off for my trans to see 150*, lol. These built trans' seem to run a lot cooler than "slippery" factory ones.
