The question I have is, is this a 8.6" 10-bolt we're talking about? If so, then that's your problem. The pinion on a 4.56 10-bolt gear set starts life already compromised.
Why is that? Mine have close to 10,000 hard miles on them with zero issues

Hey Blown06, did you ever hook up your torque arm/ladder bar setup? If so, the added load in the cast center section from the torque arm could've caused deflection of the ring and/or pinion gear. Did your builder at least put your rear on a jig to see if everything is true and straight before he put the 4.10's in?

I can tell you for sure just like these other guys that setup is everything when it comes to gears. Ive watched a buddy of mine put brand new 4.56s in his Trans Am on Friday nite, drive it straight into the trailer from the bay, and make 7000rpm clutch dump launches on slicks at the track the next day. He has had the same set of gears in that car for 2 years now. Theyve probably seen 75 passes at least. He beats the **** out of that car and those gears take all the abuse he throws at it.

If not, get pics of said gears.
If the ones he is showing you are missing a few teeth in a row it would have DEFINITELY been clanking. I know that first hand.
No clanking, no whining or anything. All teeth still intact, no signs of cracks either.

No pics. Gears are already in the city dump.

No, I have not installed the torque arm yet. The housing was straightened after I welded that 9000 lbs. of bracing to it. I doubt it moved.
