mph loss with tc?

Default mph loss with tc?

Anyone ever lose any mph up on the big end with their tc? I just installed mine waiting on track runs to c what outcome will b.

Because the converter will 'improve' your shift extensions you're mph will increase.

Yea. Noticed that after I saw the thread title again while browsing. Edited.

Agree with bill. You will pick up MPH in 1/4 because of the shift extensions letting you stay in higher rpms.
That's the entire point of the stall.

Was wanting to know what people have experienced... a friend put a 3200 stall in a 4.8 truck with 4.10s and said he lost topend or mph when racing at a roll.

I'm not sure about over gearing and what cam he had then. He runs the 224r cam in it now

You shouldn't lose MPH with a Stall as it's only designed to keep you into the rpms that produce power. More power = more acceleration.
Gears however affect how easily you can get off the line and can affect your MPH.

If you have 3.23's you get off the line a bit slower but you can hold 2nd gear all the way down the track. With 4.11's you'll likely be shifting into 3rd a lil over 1/2 way down the track and start to lose a little bit of momentum over 2nd gear's pull.

Does that make sense to anyone else? That's how I've looked at it. Input?
