3.42's with a turbo 4.8 IMO if you're not going to the track all the time.

I can only speak from a N/A point of view...

My old truck had 4.10s and 33s and left out of the hole pretty well for being stock. But it would barely do 70mph while turning 2000rpms on the highway.

My current truck has 3.73s and my "summer" tires are 31.5" and its a little sluggish out of the hole but will do 75mph and 2000rpm. With my "winter" tires that are 30" it will move out of the hole better but doesnt quite hit 75mph at 2000rpm.

And for track proof, my summer tires cost me anywhere from .1-.2 in the 1/8 over my 30" winter tires.

I plan on running a 30" tire all the time once I get my turbo kit on and running(same gears). Hope that helps.

ohhhh ok well please let me know how the 80mm works I was really thinking that size for my setup. But was a little worried about being able to spool. With the smaller motor. But my thought was if a 3.4 straight six can do it (2jz) why cant a 4.8. So 3.73 seem to be the best bet. I was thinking 3.42 just so I dont run out of gear. Anybody running turbo and 3.42. I know Flaco lil sis had them. And that thing moved out but im sure 1xxx+ hp helps.

In readin & talkin to people, 4.10s aren't needed on a turbo, just blows the tires off. I've read it more than once. And what fun is it if u can't apply full power & gotta ease into it? While I don't think it makes a diff whether a 4.8 or 5.3, maybe a 6L does. Perhaps someone coud chime in on the more cubes part as it relates. It's my understandin u can run HWY gears w/. a turbo anywhere in the 3.23-3.73 range. It plays nice. No need for 4.10s & turbo, more of a NA gear. To me, a 3.42 is the perfect gear, & a 3.73 is right there too. And I mean whether NA, boosted or NOS. Honestly, if I ever do a turbo truck, it'll have a 3.42; I even wanna do it w/. a 4.8. Just my thoughts. BTW, any cam in your 4.8?

NNBS come w/. 3.23 whereas 3.42's were std. in the NBS. That's why I included em, & some on PT that have gone to high numerically have switched back to their lower gear. My vote is therefore 3.42 / 3.73, cause your yr. likely didn't come w/. 3.23s unless it's newer, so no need to go there unless it came w/. it.
