Yea im not planning 1xxx+ hp yet. Just a dd with 600-700ish mostly roll racing. strip not much. And im not hauling a trailer or anything thats what my Tahoe is for. Just thinking a stalled built 60e/65e would be easier than full swap. 80e swap is in plans for turbo 408 build long way down the road when the 4.8 gets boring or slow

Yea truck is rcsb 2wd. I think a 3000 stall with 40k cooler and 3.23 would not be to hard on the trans. Plus thinking a little weight reduction wouldn't hurt. Truck is already base wt roll up Windows.

By being hard on trans, I mean your personal drivin habits. Are u beatin on it constant? Every stoplight is a race, full on blasts kinda thing? The 40K extends tranny life, cause heat is killer to a tranny. A blown rearend can take out a tranny, not your rearend gear choice. Been there, done that on rear takin out tranny, in my 89 C1500.

I really do want to do a 4l80e swap but electrical stuff scares the **** out of me and were im at in washington there isnt to many picknpulls or places to just get parts that I F@%k up. Does anybody make a plug and play harness for 60e to 80e? I thought I found one somewhere.

Yes, there's harnesses out there, but you will still need to install pins in your PCM plugs for the front speed sensor. Take your time with the relay mod and you'll be fine and not have to spend big bucks for someone to swap two wires for you.

I know all too well about being on a skin tight military budget which makes planning all that much more important. The 80E swap isn't near as bad once you get your hands into it. do it now, take our time, and it'll save you downtime, money, and heartache later...

As Ben says below, & I agree, there are p&p harnesses. Speed Inc or Eng (I forget which name, but it's easy to figure which), Speartech, & Howell probably too. Others too, but u can see the cost for yourself. But b4 u do that, read stickies & threads on 60E --> 80E conversion. There's a sticky on it actually. I'd contact nonnieselman. His name is Jonathan, he's really cool & has done it. That sticky is his & has a drawing on the wiring pinout.

Planning is more important w/. a lack of funds, but also of big projects. Or if u haven't done a project, any project before, plannin becomes more important to those people.
