lowering questions..Chassis Tech spindles?

Default lowering questions..Chassis Tech spindles?

Well a while back before I knew anything about lowering I purchased some Chassis tech 2 in drop spindles...When we tried to install them things didn't work out right...It looked as if I needed to flip the top A- arm to install it....Is this needed?....If this is the case, I've read on here that I can lose turning radius.....So should I try to use these things or just put them on Ebay?

Also I got a 4" flip kit with this....Do I need a mini c- notch?....Some people say yes others say no....I's hate to cut the frame, for resale value purposes. any help is appreciated, Thanks Bigwake.

Interesting thing about GM, every truck is different, the only way you know if you will need to notch it is to lower it. as far as resale value goes...just dont say anything...

Chassis tech products are the same as the AIM stuff, crap from what everyone says. Do a search and you will find many bad things about their products.

By a-arm, do you mean the control arm? If so, I have never heard of anyone having to flip the control arm. The only thing I have heard you had to flip with any of the spindles is the tie rod, and I don't think all will have you do this. With most spindles you will increase your turning radius, with the exception of Mcgaughys. I know belltech revised their spindles, but I don't know if you still increase your turning radius.

As far as flip kits, I have never heard of a 4" flip kit. All flip kits I have seen are 6" and then you will have to notch the frame. For 4" you should only need shackles and hangers or a 4" drop leaf. I believe belltech makes a 3" drop leaf in which you could use a shackle set to 1" to get a 4" drop. Most people with a 4" drop will not notch the frame, but some do it to have a little more clearence.

With a 5" drop most will recommend notching the frame, however, it is not necessary. If you do not notch, you will constantly be banging the axle on the frame though so its up to you. With a 6" or more drop, you must use a notch.

Hmm So I guess I should ditch the Chassis tech spindles..Do you guys have any recommendations?....I'm going for ride quality here, not cheapest price...So It's either Spindles or lower control arms.....I've heard of Control arms having bump steer...How much of a problem is this really?....And does anyone have an opinion on spindles?...I've heard a couple guys complaining about squeaky ball joints on belltechs.

Yes I guess they tricked me on the flip kit too...It is probably a 6 inch drop. Would it be feasable to go 4/5?....Using 2" shackles and and a 3" drop leaf? and without c notching. thanks guys.

I've heard on that with the AIM's spindles you need to flip the upper control arm. The old belltech spindles were this way too. I would try to ditch the AIM spindles and go with some McGaughy's spindles. I've heard nothing but good things about them. If you go 4" in the rear you should at least change your bump stop. And as far as c- notching and resale: I don't think that will ruin the resale at all as long as it's done right. You won't be able to sell a truck that bottoms out on every speed bump.

Its probably like the Belltech spindles where you need to flip the balljoints in the upper control arm, not the arm itself. I think that flipping the arm itself would cause you to never be able to align the truck again and it would ride like crap.

Cool well I'm goin to ebay these chassis tech spindles and buy some McGaughy's spindles and coils, maybe some bilsteins to replace these stiff *** monroe magnums.

Has anyone heard of a 5 inch drop in the rear via a set of shackles and a 3 inch drop leaf?....I don't see why is wouldn't work...I have heard that drop leafs make for a stiffer ride but maybe you could solve that with some drop shocks? and do shock extenders allow your regular shocks to work like drop shocks?

Most all drop leaves that I've heard of ride stiffer than stock. Hotchkis makes about the best drop leaf I've seen. It'll drop the rear 4 in. and with a 1 in. shackle you'll be at the 5 in. you're looking for. Also, yes you can use shock extenders to work with a longer shock; extenders with stock length shocks should work pretty well with a 5 in. drop.
