Default lowering 4x4 tosion key questions

Any of you guys who lowered your 4x4 1/2 ton use gm 3/4 ton torsion keys. The reason I ask is because my buddy works for 4-wheel parts and said they use 1/2 keys to raise up the 3/4 tons. He gave me some stock 3/4 ton keys, so we figured they would drop the 1/2 ton. Anyone have any info on this?

Thanks, Mark

You only need the keys if there is no adjustment left. I used the stock keys and just backed off the bolts a little to get about an inch of drop. This will put your front resting on the stops pretty hard, I cut mine in half.

I thought you're running dropped spindles though? I just want to do the keys to get about 2 inches lower

if your trying to get 2 inches in the front you should really do spindles. putting in lowering keys then turning those is gonna make it ride like poop.

My buddy has lowering keys in his and it rides fine. I want to do rear shackles and remove the blocks in back then do the keys up front. You guys think 2wd shocks will work since it should put the truck to about that height.

I agree with rivierrakid55. Your going to have a slushy ride and no articulation detwisting so much.

Actually, alot of people have 3/4 ton key's in their 1/2tons and don't even know it. The SS & Sierra Denali's use the 3/4 ton, also know as the purple key's. Hence the lower ride height. The standard 1/2 ton key's are coded green. So in short yes you can use them.
