Lost all forward and reverse gears-oil pump???
#1
Hey guys,
Today I was driving on cruise and all of a sudden the truck revs up and I have nothing. I pulled over and went through all the gears and nothing happens, then tried reverse and still nothing. I Checked my fluid and its about 5" past the full mark.
My truck is a 03 silverado 2wd. From what I have read its my tranny oil pump, any other ideas??? cant see this being an easy fix.
Having said all of that, I just changed the tranny 3 weeks ago. I pulled the 4l60e and put in a 4l65e with 91,000 out of a caddy.
Thanks in advance!

I mean there are other ways to lose all pressure... i dropped a boost valve that wasnt seated properly and I had literally nothing. Can't speak to the fluid level though. I think that was actually OK.

Think I've found the issue
Found this on 30 common problems with the 4l60e:
21. No movement in any gear: pump failure, or total loss of fluid. Remove transmission and rebuild, or refill pan and find the leak. If out of fluid, avoid running the engine until the transmission is refilled to avoid pump damage. To check for pump failure, check fluid level with the engine off, then start the engine and recheck fluid level. If level does not go down when engine is running, the pump is broken.
