Default Looking for traction, help me out guys

Current setup: 505 rwhp
22" wheels 305/40 tires
3.23 gears
I was concidering a gear swap to 3.73s but I decided I should address traction first. My suspension is stock. I'm not sure where to start. I was thinking 18" wheels and nitto 555s or posi? I don't have any strip times but the tires break at a 40 roll and from a dig they spin untill about 55mph though acceleration is pretty good. Any help would be appreciated.

A posi and drag radials should help alot. I just bought some Nitto 20" drag radials and traction is night and day from regular street tires.

Whatever I do has to be dd friendly. Which one of the Nitto lines would you suggest and what is the optimal wheel size. At what size does a fella start sarificing performance??
20"? 22?
Thanks

Get your pinion angle down to -4ish degrees, clamp the springs and get good tires with a bit of sidewall to them

On my old cammed 6.0, 3.42s spun a ton, then I switched to 4.10s and it didn't spin near as much, but was faster too.

The highway gears will spin a lot farther if they ever break loose just because the wheel speed gets so high. I would go to maybe a set of 3.73's or 4.10's, the engine will get through the powerband quicker and it wont spin near as far, plus when it does dead hook, it will pull a lot harder. Anything you can do to stiffen the front of the leaf spring will help, spring wrap is what breaks them loose most of the time. I don't know if Cal-Tracs makes a set for these years, but they work great on the older trucks.

I never thought gearing down would reduce spin but it makes sense. 3.73s were what I wanted all along. Just wanted to address traction first. Might get two birds with one stone. I do believe a performance wheel/tire set will help too. Thanks for the input.
