Those are some of the more agressive while reasonable cams people run in a 5.3. You will need at least a 3000 stall with any of those cams. To
your current cam needs more like 3600. If you want a stock stall speed stick to a 212/218 or 216/220 cam. Mean sound and idle has a lot more to do with tuning although you can run a 109/110/111 LSA to ad some chop.

For the most part you can get alot of sound from just the lobe separation from the cam as Gamble686 stated. The cam you have listed would still be considered a Big cam for a 6.0 with fully worked heads imo
I like the 224/228 cut with a 112lsa for a 5.3.

I have seen 5.3's with 3600's perform really well with a cam similar to mine... you'll get plenty of clean chop out of it too. Mine was done by Pat G and I love it. There are a few others who do custom cams as well. I have been talking to Ed Curtis from Flowtech induction a lot lately and if I were going for a new cam he is the guy I would most likely go to. Helps that he is pretty close to me too.

Cammed LQ9 6.0 idle - YouTube
I have a real quiet exhaust, but you can still hear the light chop. Thats in an LQ9 with a very quiet exhaust and a 114 LSA. Drop that down to a 5.3 with a 112 LSA and it would sound MUCH more aggressive. Hell even with a cutout mine sounds decently aggressive.

So most of you would agree a happy medium would be a 3200 stall then? Can i order direct through Circle D?
BTW im still running my 4l60e. Would you guys recommend i install a Monster Shift kit in my tranny if im installing a new converter just to tighten everything up a little more too? I think those Monster Shift kits handle up to 650hp dont quote me on that, seem like pretty legit kits though.

What is the most choppy sounding cam, custom grind or none custom grind you guys have heard that has a decent amount of drivability with my 4000 stall. If you guys have built a cam or would build another cam for your 5.3 how would you set it up for a nasty idle and decent powerband.
