Hello just curious to see who is all useing this trans, i assume they are heavy duty as one can get.
I am going to need a new one when mine falls apart.
Any data suggesting what HP level they should be able to handle in my 4200lb truck
I plan on adding a 150-200 horsepower to my rig and need want a good trans.
How do the three different power adders effect a trans, IE turbo supercharger or N2O? Is one way harder than the other on parts?

Yea, with a power added 6.0, I'd think that an 80E is the way to go (and I'm all about using the 60/65E for all it's worth, paying off an FLT Lvl7 that will eventually have an NA LQ9 in front of it). I'd ask the guys at FLT what level they'd recommend for you

FWIW a turbocharged engine is much easier on parts because of how it applys the power. Nitrous is always a harsh jolt unless you have it stepped in with a controller (which few do correctly) and a blower for the most part increases low RPM Tq, so the stress on trans and drivetrain is greater. I wouldn't say you "need" an 80E, one of their Level 7's would probably do you fine depending on which route you take. I ran a FLT Level 5 for 2 years until I got more serious with my turbo setup... Then it was time for a more serious trans

A 4L80E isn't the best option for everyone. Ideally you want the lightest drivetrain components you can get away with. But when power and reliability butt heads, somethings gotta give.

But Andy at FLT is a cool guy to talk to, call him up and see what he suggest. 630-350-7776
