But these are the GM silverado ss rims. They should be more true than most aftermarket rims. Oh by the way, on my factory 8.5" wide rim. what's the widest tire I can fit? I was hoping to be able to squeeze a 295-45-20. But looking at the mfg suggested size, it's stating the narrowest rim you can use on a 295 tire is a 9.5-11 inches. Would you agree or disagree with this statement?

On a 20x8.5" wheel you can fit a 305/50-20. That's a 32" tall tire.
And I beleive that's the Max. if you go by the tire mounting specs

I want shorter, and the 295-45-20 is the exact height I want 30.5 inches and NO TALLER. If you can squeeze a 305-50-20 on a 20x8.5 rim, you can squeeze a 295-45-20 just fine, right?

Nope, at least if you follow the wheel mounting specs.
The largest 30.5" tire rated for an 8.5" wheel is a 265/50-20 that I found.

No, section width on that is 11.1"

However the 275/55-20 is a 31.8" tire

that 305/50-20 is 32" and is wide as ****.
