Recently picked up silverado 1500 and we are going through it now and I noticed that the clamps on the leaf springs in the back are opened up and the springs aren't even.

I went ahead and clamped the leafs together and beat the clamps back over them

What would cause this and and am I fine with just beating the clamps back together
