Default Just picked up an Escalade, it's my first A6. Anything I should do to the trans?

It shifts and drives great, and all reading I've done so far (basically everything with 6L80e in the title) suggests that it's a good trans but has some tuning problems. Are there any re-flashes I should have done, or should I just leave it alone? I've got a 6,000 mile trip over the next couple months so reliability would be paramount.

Dumb decision of the week but she's pretty.

Other than new fluid or check the condition on the fluid they are pretty rock solid for stock. I hardly run over 150-170º even when it's 80º+ outside.

Do you have a tuner and is that what you asking the second part about??

It never hurts to change the shift speeds and pressures a little, thats really as far as I take it when I do mine. Maybe add 5-7% on the pressure up the shift times by 20-30% because they are so darn slow with the factory calibration.

That's good to know. I might throw a cooler on this one before I head south for the summer just to be safe.

There's nothing special about changing the fluid on these right? I'm at 130k, I might just take it to a shop to have them drain/fill with a new filter, I have no idea if it's been done before or not.

I do have HP Tuners cable but I need to buy the software... I could just go to someplace local too if necessary.

Pretty straight forward for fluid changes. Drop the pan if you want to swap filters and refill with dexron 6 fluid.

My current boss has a 2010 Escalade and he drives like an idiot/madman/dumbass/crazy at times and with over prolly 110k now it's going strong. He did amsoil fluid I think because price wasnt an issue.

I've been told that changing the fluid on a high mile trans is a bad idea. I am not an expert though.

I wouldnt consider that really high miles for a 6L80e.

I can agree that doing a "FLUSH" might not be a good idea, machines that force fluid in and out of the transmission are known to cause problems. Most wynns machines out there are just fluid exchange machines, they connect to the cooler lines and you actually run the truck and have the transmission pump pump itself. It will suck new fluid in and push it back out just as it does through the cooler lines, thus not harming the transmission.

Otherwise a pan drop to get 70-80% of the old fluid out is good enough.

Sounds like fun if you want to pick up 1000 fragments of metal from the roadway. These SUVs are very heavy. A NVG3500 swap is probably the best answer and it won't be cheap or easy.

I've got a T-56 in my CTS-V.

No way I want that piece of **** underneath something that weighs 1500lbs more.
