Default I have ordered a Yank 2600 for my truck and have questions.

Ok as the heading reads.
My truck is a 1996 Chevy with a 305.
Is this converter a good choice????
I have read that people like the 3000 stall better, but they are mostly guys with 4.8's & 5.3's.
Is the 2600 a better choice for the older trucks, due to the much lower powerband?
Is there anyone on here with a OBS that uses this converter that can give me their opinion????

Thanks for the help,
Bruno

I have always heard of guys running higher stall with Naturally Aspirated motors with the lack of low end torque. 3000-3600

Yea you dont need as high of a stall for an older truck since they make their torque way lower.

I would have to agree with this.

I think your stall will be based on your mods...........like gearing and cam selection.

Hed have to have a bigg cam though to need a converter in the 3000s even. IIRC peak torque in like a tbi truck is way low like 2400 or something.

I could be wrong though.

My truck is basically stock, other than when it needed a part, I usually upgrade to something better.
Only thing other than stock is:
Exhaust-Replaced it all 3" ,no cat, Dynomax ultra flow, mandrall bent tail pipe.
Rear axle-Repalced Diff with Detroit Tru Trac, Richmond 3.42 Gear
And now I have a FLT level 3 4L60-E, and a Yank 2600 converter on the way.

I figured once I get the trans & converter in I'll go for a dyno tune, and have the torque management removed, and have the tune optimized.

So that converter was a good choice?

When I had mine dynoed(same design, Gen 1 except 4.3) torque really started climbing around 2400-2500, so a 2600 should put you right in a good spot. We I swap in a converter, thats what Im going to buy.

Are those #'s with a 4.3?

Unfortunately, those numbers are on a 75 shot. It added 73hp and 108ft.lbs. to the N/A numbers.
