...and if you look closely at the output shaft, it's for a 4x4

Why did it do it and that trans is tuff. I use to do the reverse to drive slap in my old truck to spin the tires but those old turbo 400s are tuff from factory.

I've had similar incidents. Both of which the tires did not lock up, thank god. First was thanks to blackpearl, who was drunk off his *** and thought it would be ok to drop it to 1st gear doing about 40mph on the stock tranny. I panicked and shifted all the way up to R and quickly back to N. Truck died and rolled to the upcoming traffic light. Put it in P, turned it on and rolled away. Second was on the hwy. and completely caused by my idiocy as I was trying to record my speedo. Had it in 3 after a 45mph pull and when I tried to shift back up in went in R again Same thing only this time it didn't shut off on me.

Both incidents were on different trans. The second was on my current "built" trans and it's still going strong. First didn't seem to cause any damage as the tranny was still in running condition when it got replaced.

My girlfriend and I were right behind him on 101 when this happened. With the revving through the open cutouts, my girlfriend though we were being buzzed by an airplane, then the reverse lights blinked on. From my point of view it was only an instant, but I bet for Julian it was in slow motion. Thanks for not pitching it sideways and taking us with you!
