For some reason i have this thought that the trans cases are Cast aluminium... but i am probably wrong and i have no idea where i put my service manual to look that up...

If it is cast aluminium then i hate to say but that stuff usually doesnt like being welded.

You can weld cast aluminum, the biggest problem with doing a transmission case would getting it clean enough. Aluminum is porus, and sucks up oil, and you MUST get it clean to weld it properly. I would recommend cleaning with brake parts cleaner, then steam cleaning. Keep the brake parts cleaner handy while you're welding, too. Oil might still bleed out, and need to be eliminated immediately.

Default cracked case

i dont think its safe for the internal parts to be inside the case while being welded.it might hurt the bushings, bearings, etc.

No....you have to disassemble the trans to weld the case.

my drive shaft broke on the dyno at 5100 and all hell broke loose. Broke the adaptor and the very end of the trans housing. I wouldn't have a problem getting a new one, but i just got done rebuilding it 7 days ago. where it broke is at the very end. It is out by the output shaft i well try to get pics.
