Default how much power will a stock 4l60e hold

seems like in my old ext cab with a whipple i took it out before long with just 6psi. are others killing the 4l60e with such minimal power? i really miss the whisle and would love to turbo my DD truck even just keeping it at 5-6psi but i dont want to kill the tranny right now. thats a chunk of money i need for other things. the whisle of a spooling turbo is like crack to me. i get a little excited when a city bus drives by even

how is everyone else doing with their 4l60e? i am not going to make run after run with this thing like i did with my other trucks. the tranny had 98k on it now but the oil is really clean and smells good so i think it is in good shape.

who am i kidding, these things suck in stock form. it will burn up nearly instantly i bet.

Unfortunately there's no telling how much one can hold. People have killed them with stock 5.3L's and there are people who are spraying 150 shots through shifts and they've held up.

Transgo HD-2 kit + intermediate/OD servos = cheap longevity.

Yeah it really is hit or miss. With my 4.8 i sprayed 150 through shifts with it for a while, then went turbo and beat the crap out of it with 8-10psi and i had no problems at all.

I also had no problems with it in my old Z and i ran 12.0 on motor all day long and also sprayed a 125 shot through shifts with it and never had a problem.

I'm running 11's with a 53000 mile stock 4L60e with a shift kit and stall converter. Not slipping yet.

My 4l60e went at around 96,000 miles while the truck was bone stock. Oil looked and smelled fine in mine until a couple of months after it started slipping and steadily getting worse. I replaced it before it completely failed although I didn't have much of a 2nd gear for a few weeks while I waited on the new FLT to show up. It's all luck of the draw I guess.

I beat on mine for 5 months with a cam'd and stalled 6.0L and it never cringed. I had a Transgo HD-2 shift kit and vette servo. The rearend locked up which took out the tranny. I had NUMEROUS track passes on it too.

I'm a firm believer in the shift kit and servo
