Default How far will a shift kit take you?

How far will a **** kit, and servo take you on an stock 03 4L60 in a RC, 4x4 ? 1/4 mile times& RWHP. Is high 12's too much to ask? I have a built 4L80E, but my truck only has 3.42 gears. I know when I change the trans I will need a gear chang also I have a T66 Trick front mount, and would like to run about 10-12LBS(@ high altitude) on the stock 5.3 for a few months. Then when I get the 6.0 finished I want to do the trans, and gear swap. I just don't wan't the trans to take a **** rite away. Any suggestions? Thanks, J

It really depends on your trans. Some trans won't last long running 12s (hell even stock), but others will last a long time. It will be good for 12s, but who knows how long it will last.

Finally had a problem with mine, pushed the front seal out due to something seizing at the pump cover area (I'm not a tranny guy). BUT I did hammer the **** out of it...about ten runs back to back, every few minutes, stalling for probably too long to build boost WAY past what the converter will normally stall at. If I had even just driven it hard and not beat the crap out of it, I am told it probably would have been perfectly fine. I'll probably go 80e next year after I get my 7's this season.

I think Trans Go advertised the 4l60 will hold up to 450 ft lbs with their shift kit, but like 99rado5.3 said, it could go anytime, much like the g80.

After seeing how good yours shifts, Im thinking about giving the 60E a try. My truck does have 130k on it though. Still shifts good, and has never towed anything. I just don't have the time, or the $$$ to swap the gears, and trans rite now. Need to be heading back to C/springs by the end of next week.
